Youtube POWER!!
I have been getting into the Youtube zone lately and uploading my extensive library of videos from my various podcasts onto the Youtube website. It's was at first a bit scary how easy it really was to do. I have for years prided myself on the abilty to host videos on my own servers as a service to my clients.. that was our EDGE I guess you could say. Well that edge has been dulled by Youtube dot com POW!!
After I started exploring the website I started seeing that it was the best thing to happen to the independant producer since the the first DV camera.. It exposes my content to a whole new audience that wouldn't otherwise see it on my website or podcast.. which equal more eyes for my content.. I kinda like that idea! So I have been uploading for many days now old episodes of DJVIBE and a few other mixed vids.. I was getting some pretty good numbers but nothing crazy.. I decided to upload a un-edited dance video of the famous dancer "Mr Wiggles" which I hadn't got around to editing and just wanted to see what people thought. So I uploaded it.
Youtube had this great feature for sharing video which allows you to embed a flash player containing the video you uploaded, this player can be embedded on your Myspace, Blog or personal website.. this luckily allowed "Mr Wiggles" himself to add the video I uploaded to his personal Myspace page. In 2 months online the video has been viewed over 14,000 times.. And it took me 5 min to make.. Leaving all my fancy edited work in the dust..
